Recruitment Scams
Recruitment scams
Unfortunately, fraudsters are impersonating Bupa employed recruiters to encourage people to part with private information and/or money.
These recruitment scams may be circulating via text messages and WhatsApp but also emails - targeting individuals via non-Bupa email accounts such as gmail.com.
All official Bupa email correspondence originates from a valid Bupa email address only i.e. @bupa.com.au or @bupa.co.nz.
Below we have provided some useful information to help you spot and report anything suspicious.
To help spot a potential scam, here are some tips to look out for:
- Be cautious of messages that appear out of the blue from a number/ email address you don't recognise.
- Be cautious if there is urgency to the request or an emotional trigger
- Do not click on any links if you are suspicious as they could contain malware that could be installed on your device.
- Get a second opinion if you're being asked for money or personal details, such as your CV.
- Watch out for poorly written messages and adverts that contain spelling errors.
How to report recruitment scams:
Do not respond or follow any links and don't be tempted to give away personal information, such as your CV, or financial information.
If you've already shared information with a potential scammer, you should report it to Scamwatch, and notify your bank. There are many resources on the Scamwatch site to help you in reporting this and staying safe.
If you have interacted with a suspicious email, please contact us at scams@bupa.com.au for assistance.
