What will your duties be?
As an oral health therapists, dental hygienists and dental therapists, you’ll be an important part of a hard-working team. You are highly trained to provide oral examinations and other dental services, and you’re also able to communicate the importance of good oral hygiene to your patients.
Oral health therapist
As an oral health therapist, you will provide both preventive care and basic dental treatments. You will clean teeth, apply fluoride, take X-rays, and educate patients on maintaining good oral hygiene. You will also treat children by filling cavities, monitoring dental development, and helping prevent future oral health problems.
Dental hygienist
As a dental hygienist, you will focus on preventing oral diseases. You will clean teeth, remove plaque and tartar, polish teeth, and support patients in caring for their gums. You will also educate patients on proper brushing and flossing techniques to help them maintain healthy teeth and gums.
Dental therapist
As a dental therapist, you will perform basic dental procedures, especially for children. You will treat cavities, place fillings, extract baby teeth, and provide preventive care. You will also promote good oral health in the community and support patients in developing healthy dental habits.
