About the Program
What is the Bupa Dental Assistant Traineeship?
It’s a hands-on, paid training program designed to help you gain the skills and qualifications needed to work as a Dental Assistant. You’ll complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Dental Assisting (with the option to progress to Certificate IV) while working in one of Bupa Dental Care’s practices.
Who can apply?
Anyone interested in starting a career in healthcare and dental care. No prior dental experience is required — we’ll train you on the job.
Program structure & learning
What will I learn?
The program combines theory and practical learning, covering:- Chairside assisting during dental procedures
- Infection prevention and control
- Patient communication and care
- Dental practice administration
- Radiography (Radiation Skill Set)
- Oral health promotion
- Advanced infection control
- Practice operations and support
How long does it take to complete?
Certificate III generally takes around 12 months to complete, depending on your study pace.

You’ll be placed in one of our 170+ dental practices across Australia — including Bupa Dental, Clearly Dental, and independently branded practices within our network.
